Auto Break-ins

With the increase in unemployment, the crime rate has increased as well.  Just a friendly reminder to lock and park your cars in the garage whenever possible.  There are gangs watching women drive into the Green Lake parking lots.  They are watching you put your purses and valuables in your trunks.  Remember to put your purses and valuable in your trunk before parking.  Olympic Manor was vandalized last night, August 24th, 2011.  A few cars were broken into around the duplex area.  Lock your home doors as well.

Viaduct closure Today through Monday

All southbound lanes of the Alaskan Way Viaduct will close from the Battery Street Tunnel to the West Seattle Bridge from 11 p.m. Friday 8/19  to 5 a.m. Monday 8/22.

During the closure, preparations will be made for the viaduct’s nine-day closure in late October, according to the state Department of Transportation. The work is part of the viaduct-replacement project.

While you are away…

Imagine returning from a trip to find that your home has been burglarized.  Having someone house sit for you is not always an option.  Try these few security tips:

  • Make your house look occupied.  Have inside and outside lights on timers.  Also try a radio on a timer.
  • Ask a neighbor or friend to pick up mail and newspapers while you are away.
  • Keep your yard clean.  Mow the grass and prune hedges before (so they do not block windows) you leave. 
  • Lock all doors and windows.  Never leave a spare key hidden outside your house.
  • Call the police and block watch captain to notify them that you will be away.
  • And if you have one, activate your security system.
