While you are away…

Imagine returning from a trip to find that your home has been burglarized.  Having someone house sit for you is not always an option.  Try these few security tips:

  • Make your house look occupied.  Have inside and outside lights on timers.  Also try a radio on a timer.
  • Ask a neighbor or friend to pick up mail and newspapers while you are away.
  • Keep your yard clean.  Mow the grass and prune hedges before (so they do not block windows) you leave.
  • Lock all doors and windows.  Never leave a spare key hidden outside your house.
  • Call the police and block watch captain to notify them that you will be away.
  • And if you have one, activate your security system.

Great Marketing and Communication Skills

I am pleased to recommend Jeffrey Menday to anyone seeking a Real Estate Agent. I am a retired Attorney who practiced law in Washington for fifty years with a large Real Estate-Probate practice. I have worked with Jeff and have been impressed with his communication skills, his never ending source of contracting services and his marketing skills. He has enabled us to prepare and sell real estate more quickly and with better results than what is the norm in today’s difficult market.

Jeff knows his market, knows his clients and has a great intuition

I have known Jeff since 1999 when he helped me purchase my first home. Since then he assisted me in selling that home and purchasing another wonderful home. Jeff knows his market, knows his clients and has a great intuition when it comes to matching people with homes. He and Lori are extremely responsive and make the entire process, which can be stressful, streamlined and seamless. I would highly recommend Jeff if you are considering selling your home or buying a new one.

National Night Out

This year the 28th National Night Out (NNO) will be on Tuesday August 2nd.   My neighborhood has planned a get together and cookout.

Last year the NNO  citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide got together. In 2010, over 37 million people participated in National Night Out

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

  • Strengthen crime and drug prevention
  • Create support  and raise participation in  local anti-crime programs
  • Enhance neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

For more information about this event, visit:  http://www.nationalnightout.org/nno/index.html

It is not too late to organize your own neighborhood event.

Jeff Used His Connections to Find the Right Buyer

Jeff is a top notch agent in Seattle and I highly recommend him and his services. Jeff sold our house in a tough market in 2008 when it seemed like it might not be possible. He achieved this sale by first identifying the three major factors why the house was not selling. He communicated this accurately and clearly. Then, he helped us solve these issues in the most cost effective manner possible and finally, he used his connections to find the right buyer. Jeff knows the ins-and-outs of this business, has seen several up and down cycles. Most importantly, he’s friendly, easy-going and honest.

Jeff is Resourceful

The property Jeff sold for us was a rental property that required a lot of preparation to sell. His knowledge of how to find people to help us and exactly what to do and what not to do to make this propery sell was right on. His experience was obvious. When the offer came, he made the sale flawless.

The Ballard Locks

Ballard Locks

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, which was built in 1911 and often referred to as the Ballard Locks, provides a gateway for boats between the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of the Ship Canal, that connects eastward to Lake Union as well as Lake Washington.

Both locals and Tourists alike love watching the all the sailboats, yachts,  tugs and barges passing through, as the locks’ water levels are manipulated to allow their safe passage.

Another popular area to check out here is the fish ladder which was created to let salmon pass safely between fresh and salt water and also to navigate the locks. Glass panels beneath the water line make it easy to watch the salmon as they swim through the ladder.
